![]() Plus, there’s the newest content on the cloud with season 12 of Apex Legends, the ‘Joseph: Collapse’ Far Cry 6 DLC and 10 games joining the GeForce NOW library this week. This week also comes with sweet in-game rewards for members playing Eternal Return, with two unique skins, including Military Doctor Cathy and an NVIDIA exclusive GeForce NOW Silvia. This GFN Thursday takes a look at how GeForce NOW makes PC gaming possible on Android and iOS mobile devices to support gamers on the go. ![]() The power savings, lack of heat being output in my home, and money saved on video cards would certainly help justify the service.Who says you have to put your play on pause just because you’re not at your PC? What I can envision is dropping down from a high end rig to a mid to low rig that allows me to play my backlog and older games native at 4k Ultra while I can stream the new more demanding stuff. There's mods and of course the big thing being the unsupported titles. The platform holders love their subscription models so you know they will be pushing it.Įven if I were to become a regular GFN subscriber I wouldn't give up PC gaming hardware. I liken it to the early days of digital games vs physical, a lot of pushback early on but people will gradually come around in time. Streaming does seem to be primed to take off in the near future, especially on console. Now that I have a 300 u/d fiber connection I think I'll just cough up the $20 and try a month of Ultimate to satisfy my curiosity once I get a break from work. There was input lag and the resolution looked bad on my 65" screen. ![]() The only streaming I've tried to date has been on Xbox One X which I found extremely underwhelming on my 25mb dsl at the time. I have to admit posts like the OP really peek my interest in this tech. You're going to need to speak with Jensen Huang about this since that's how NVIDIA presents it. I'd love it if DF would do a re-review, because it's frankly come a very long way. The Deck simply can't handle more demanding games, and Steam Remote Play, while playable, does have more noticeable input lag and frametime issues. For the longest time I've been looking for device gaming freedom within my home, and while I thought the Steam Deck might provide it, there were always drawbacks. But then coming back home with a lesser connection (Rogers 1G cable), but with my own router, the experience is flawless. I did experience the occasional stutter or packet drop. Where I was, I had access to a 1G fiber connection, but the wifi was running off the ISP (Bell) provided modem. I'd say that at 120Hz, it feels as responsive as native 60Hz, if not more. Input lag, while not as good as my gaming rig, is still very, very good. They must be doing some trickery with hardware mouse support because the cursor felt native. BG3 was of course flawless, and felt native. ![]() Perfect for my new 1800p 120Hz OLED laptop. So enter the Ultimate tier: a 4080 equivalent GPU powering a 4K/120Hz stream. The picture quality was alright, but compression was still quite noticeable. Input lag was manageable, but could clearly be felt with a mouse. I had tried GFN when it first launched, and while it was alright, it was a clearly degraded experience from native. I figured this was the best opportunity to try GFN again. A 3050 can't be that bad right? Well, I could get semi acceptable performance at fairly blurry resolutions with the fans blasting attempting to blast my laptop off into space. But I finally got myself a laptop this past week with a 3050 (for professional use), but I was curious to see how it handled some games.Īfter being stranded away from home on my friends game night where we're playing through Baldur's Gate, I figured I could just game on my new laptop.
